The best medicine for people with control issues is:
Children.
Lots of them.
The more you have ➡️ the less control you have ➡️ the more you’re forced to face your shortcomings and surrender.
Sounds painful? Sometimes. But it’s also sanctifying, a holy calling, and a privilege to be sculpted and refined through motherhood.
Some days feel like eternity when you’re wiping snotty noses, correcting sass attitudes, and picking up the dumped toy basket for the 59th time at 11pm.
But eternity is the reason you do it.
If we could control everything our children did, it would leave no room for them to autonomously choose.
To choose love and compassion. To choose prioritizing home and family. To choose God and His will over the world.
Let your kids see you choose God by surrendering control and loving them through every tricky and trying moment. The Lord makes no mistakes in assigning you the kids He did and He promises us He won’t leave us to mess it all up, but through Him, we will all be transformed.
